From DC Unlimited, we got our first peak of the World of Warcraft action figures at Toy Fair this past week. If you have never played World of Warcraft, it is a hugely popular online fantasty game by Blizzard Entertainment. After seeing the figures up close and personal, I was impressed with the quality and detail. They did a great job of capturing the characters from the game and turning them into a 3 dimensional action figure.

These action figures aren’t going to be released until October but we wanted to get them up early for pre-order so that everyone who wants them, has a chance to get their order in before they are released. I think this World of Warcraft collection is not only going to do well among the fans of the game, but among fans of fantasy toys as well.

Well, we are back from Toy Fair and adding lots of great new items to the site. Last week we reported on DC Unlimited acquiring the license to Afro Samurai. We saw the prototypes for these action figures up close and personl at the Fair and they were impressive. Yesterday, DC Comics announced they will be launching a new division called DC Unlimited which will make action figures and collectibles for popular pop culture licenses that are not part of the current DC Universe.  Along with that announcement, they revealed the first license they will be making product for, World of Warcraft.

The very next day, DC Unlimited has now announced that they have acquired the license to Afro Samurai, an anime series starring Samuel L. Jackson as one of the main voice actors.

“The opportunity to bring Afro Samurai to action figure and collectible fans was something we couldn’t pass up,” said Cheryl Rubin, Senior Vice President Brand Management at DC Comics. “The combination of Afro Samurai’s hip, cutting-edge animation with the quality and attention to detail that DC Unlimited is known for is a perfect match.”
