We received a small shipment today but it included some fantastic new items. The two new items of note for me are the new Simpsons figures by McFarlane Toys and the new Modern Battlestar Galactica Minimates from Diamond Select Toys.

McFarlane Simpsons Action Figures

From McFarlane Toys, the first batch of Simpsons products we were introduced to were the Simpsons Deluxe Box Sets. Personally, I love these sets, they are interactive and very well done. Unfortunately, they don’t sell very well. Maybe the license is played out or maybe I am more alone than I think with my opinion of these deluxe figures. Hopefully you guys will prove me wrong and let me know what you think of them. I am not asking you to buy them if you don’t want them, but I would appreciate some feedback on what you think of them. We only received half of our order today for the new Modern Battlestar Galactica Minimates and the variant already sold out. We made Marvel Minimates series 14, 15 & 16 available for pre-order on our site today. We are going to try things a bit differently this time around. Normally, we don’t make Marvel Minimates available for pre-order since the pre-orders on the variant figure would be through the roof and we wouldn’t be able to fill them all. Their is only one variant per case of 12, if we recieve 200 pre-orders for that one figure, we would have to buy 200 cases and and that only makes sense if we can sell all the non-variants that are left behind.

However, we have had quite a few customers who buy minimates faithfully from us request that we make them available for pre-order. So, we have come to what we feel is a good compromise. You can pre-order the 3 regular minimates for each series and if you want to make sure you get the variant you can pre-order a full set of 4 or even a full case of 12 but you can’t pre-order the variant figure by itself. If that is still the only one of the bunch that you want, you can still buy it but not until we get them in-stock. Until that time, the variant will be marked as “out of stock”.

Have you seen the Weta Originals Rayguns yet? Wow! These badboys may be pricey but they look amazing. I love old sci-fi movies and tv shows so these antique style original rayguns are right up my alley. I don’t know if I am going to plunk down the $690.00 it will cost to own one of these but I am awfully tempted. It would make my decision a lot easier if some of my customers would ante up and buy one, hint, hint

If you are not familiar with Weta Collectibles, they are a division of Weta Limited which, among other things, did the effects work for the Lord of the Rings films and makes some impressive collectibles for licensed properties. They have started their new Weta Originals line which feature original collectibles that aren’t associated with any license.

The Weta Originals Rayguns are extremely limited, they are only going to make 500 of each model. They are 1:1 scale antique-styled sci-fi hand weapon props conceived by Weta Workshop’s Designer Greg Broadmore and meticulously build by Master Model Maker David Tremont.

Each one will be handcrafted and made out of metal with some glass parts. Every Raygun comes with its own velvet lined pressed tin case, Certificate of Authenticity and an assortment of implements and crafting tools.

Okay, so these might not be brand new but they are new for us. I know they were released months ago at other stores but we didn’t get ours until now. I would like to say that zombies took our first shipment along with 2 or 3 brave warehouse workers defending the shipment with their lives but that would just be silly. Zombies can’t eat action figure brains. Duh!
