The first one that we added was the Lord of the Rings Animated Saruman maquette. This stylized statue stands 10″ tall and features the treacherous Lord Saruman from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. From Pirates of the Caribbean, we have the new animated Jack Sparrow maquette. These stylized statues seem to be hit or miss with customers. People either love the style or they hate them. Personally, I am a fan of the animated styling and was glad to see Gentle Giant expand the line beyond the animated characters from the Clone Wars Series. Tim Roth will bring his considerable acting chops to the role of Emil Blonsky, aka The Abomination (though that monicker won’t be used in the film), in Louis Leterrier’s new Hulk movie for Marvel Studios. In the Hulk comics The Abomination is a KGB agent who deliberately exposed himself to gamma rays in order to gain Hulk-like size and strength. In the movie Blonsky is a mercenary, not a Russian agent, but he still gets a major dose of radiation in order to provide the Hulk a worthy adversary, though screenwriter Zak Penn strictly refuses to call the character, The Abomination

On a sadder topic, the Afro Samurai action figures, which were set to be released in October from DC Unlimited, have been pushed back until next year.  We aren’t sure of the reason behind the delay yet but if you were counting on these figures anytime soon, you are out of luck.

I don’t play a lot of video games anymore. Not because I don’t enjoy them but because I just too busy and spend too much time on the computer at work, I don’t want to rush home and play a video game during my down time. However, if their is one game that changes that, it’s the Final Fantasy games. I have been a big fan of Final Fantasy ever since the first version was released for the original NES.

Square Enix has done an amazing job with these figures. Their price point is higher than the average but they are produced in smaller production runs and the quality of the sculpt and paint is just amazing.
