Star Wars X-Wing Fighter Cross Section Kit

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

We blogged about this back in February when we saw them at Toy Fair.  We finally have them in-stock and they are kick ass!  They are made by Kotobukiya so the sculpt and the paint are excellent.  It’s a cross between a statue and a model kit.  It is an X-Wing that allows you to take it apart and view all the inner workings.  If Lucas’s physics actually worked, this is what the X-Wing would like like under the hood.  It’s really impressive with tons of accessories.  Check it out at Star Wars X-Wing Cross Section Kit.  Make sure you flip through and look at all the pics.  They don’t do it justice but it will give you a good idea.

Watchmen was Big Seller in August

Watchmen Trade

With all the buzz surrounding the Watchmen Movie, the book has gotten a big boost.  It’s always been a consistent seller for us but we have seen a big increase of late.  Apparently, we are not the only people seeing such an increase.  Diamond has just announced that Watchmen was the top dollar book sold in the month of August.  Over 43,000 copies of watchmen sold last month.  That’s pretty impressive for a book that is 2 decades old.  I am sure the trailer that was showing before the Dark Knight had a big impact on those numbers.  A whole new generation of readers is being introduced to this amazing story in anticipation for the movie.

We have the trade paperback in-stock and the Absolute edition hard cover up for pre-order.  You can check them out on our Watchmen Comic Book page.

Iron Man II Draws on Invincible Iron Man

Monday, September 15th, 2008

The Justin Theroux script for Iron Man II will draw on the tone from the Matt Fraction Invincible Iron Man issues, according to director Jon Favreau as reported by Sci Fi Wire.  “The Fraction series seems to be informed as much by our movie as by what had happened with Iron Man before,” Favreau said in the report.

Favreau said he hopes to include War Machine played by Terrence Howard in the sequel, and also hinted at an appearance by the Mandarin.

Favreau also said he’d like to shoot for IMAX if the budget allows, and is also interested in 3-D as another way to draw people to theaters.

Spider-Man 4 AND 5!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

After Spider-Man 3 there was a lot of talk about it being the end of that series of movies.  Both Toby Maquire and Sam Raimi had hinted at not wanting to do any more.   That would have sucked since I did not like Spider-Man 3 and I would have hated to see the series of movies end on a bad note.  Luckily, a report was issues earlier this week that said Toby Maguire and Sam Raimi are close to signing a contract for not one, but 2 more Spider-Man movies.  They are kicking around the idea of filming both movies back to back.  Hopefully the studio won’t pressure Raimi to include more bad guys than the film can handle like they did with the third movie.
