The Franklin Mint and 20th Century Fox created and put into circulation 40,000 quarters with the Silver Surfer image on it. Unfortunately, the US Mint is not happy. They issued a statement on Friday stating that it is illegal to turn a coin into an advertising tool and warned that violators could be fined.

This isn’t the first time the Franklin Mint has created a collectible like this but it is the first time they put the coins into circulation. If you happen to find a Silver Surfer quarter, you can go to the web site address listed on the quarter and enter various sweepstakes and opportunities to attend the movies premiere.

Spider-Man 3 drops 60% at the box office this past weekend but still earned an impressive $60 Million and despite it’s drop, still dominated the box office and remained at #1.  Is such a steep drop a sign that some of the lackluster reviews are having an affect?  Personally, I haven’t seen the movie yet.  I am a huge Spidey fan but have been so busy lately I just haven’t been able to make it to the theatre.

Tim Roth will bring his considerable acting chops to the role of Emil Blonsky, aka The Abomination (though that monicker won’t be used in the film), in Louis Leterrier’s new Hulk movie for Marvel Studios. In the Hulk comics The Abomination is a KGB agent who deliberately exposed himself to gamma rays in order to gain Hulk-like size and strength. In the movie Blonsky is a mercenary, not a Russian agent, but he still gets a major dose of radiation in order to provide the Hulk a worthy adversary, though screenwriter Zak Penn strictly refuses to call the character, The Abomination
